Over the years, EDM Solutions Ltd. has encountered a common consensus of inconvenience within the lock/smith community regarding the coexistence of Schlage and BEST system solutions in the security market. This has naturally led to a compromise of two distinct preferences among industry professionals, with some favoring Schlage and others BEST. While both systems are highly respected and have their strengths, challenges arise when encountering jobs/projects utilizing both solutions.
To address this issue once and for all, EDM Solutions Ltd. developed the 8C04-SFIC. This simple innovative solution bridges the gap between the two systems by unifying BEST-based SFIC core and lock applications under the Schlage framework. A simple, and cost-effective solutions resolving multi-system key management challenges for end-users. The ultimate System Interchangeable Core solutions.
Challenge Accepted:
There’s been a lot of speculation about whether it’s possible to design an SFIC in Schlage key configuration. Many thought it was undoable due to various limitations. But we didn’t see it that way, thus challenge was accepted. Another practical concern is that, in most cases, projects prefer to stick with one system for consistency. However, that’s not always possible, as not all Interchangeable lock applications support both systems modularly. We aim to open new doors for cross-system integration, benefiting both lock makers and servicing locksmiths
1. What is 8C04?
The 8C04-SFIC is a exclusively customized Small Format Interchangeable Core that combines the external design of the Stanley BEST SFIC with the internal configuration of a Schlage key system, Simply speaking, 8C04-SFIC is a SFIC that operates under Schlage Key and Code system.
2. What are the advantages of 8C04?
The major advantage is key and code compatibility with Schlage key systems between SFIC and all Schlage Full Size Conventional Cylinders & LFIC (Large Format Interchangeable Cores). It serves as a bridge, enabling SFIC applications to integrate into an existing Schlage key system. By installing the 8C04-SFIC, you can key manage the 8C04-SFIC under the existing Schlage KD, MK, or GMK system.
3. How does 8C04 work?
The 8C04-SFIC operates on standard Schlage keyways and key bitting specifications. Its has its own Code calculation modified from the A2 system, but keys are cut to Schlage key bitting specifications.
4. How do you code an 8C04-SFIC?
The code calculation method is the modified version of the original A2 system. We offer a free Code Generator program for anyone looking to integrate their existing Schlage codes with the 8C04-SFIC.
